Getting set up
Set up your profile
Your profile is what a family reads before they message or book. It saves itself as you type, and a preview beside it shows exactly what they'll see.
What the Bookings Suite gives you
The Bookings Suite is the subscription that runs your tutoring: your planner, your students, payments, messaging offers, work and the classroom. It is $25 a month in Australian dollars.
What Tutor Marketplace costs
$25 a month for the Bookings Suite, plus a flat 5% on lessons families pay for through us. The Directory Listing is an optional $15 a month.
Connect Stripe so families can pay you online
Online payments reach your bank account through Stripe. Connecting takes a few minutes and is done once.
Set the hours families can book
Your weekly windows are the times a family can book by themselves. Lessons you add yourself can go anywhere.
Planner
Add a lesson to your planner
Put a lesson in your own calendar for a student you already teach, whether or not they have an account here.
Block out time you can't teach
A block takes up to two hours off your calendar so nobody can book it: an appointment, a school event. Whole days away are Days Off.
Move or cancel a lesson
You can move or cancel any lesson. When you cancel, the family gets a full refund and no fee.
Colour a lesson and keep a private note
Give a student their own colour so your week reads at a glance, and keep a note on any lesson that only you can see.
Send lesson details or a reminder
Reminders go out on their own before a lesson. You can also send the details or a nudge by hand whenever you like.
Read your week and month
The Planner is one calendar with different views. Lessons are coloured by their state, or by the colour you gave the student.
Students
Add a student
Students holds everyone you teach: families who found you here, and your own students who have no account.
Bring your students across from a spreadsheet
Upload a spreadsheet or paste the rows, check the columns, and your whole list is added in one go, with their regular lessons if you like.
Let families add themselves with a link
One link you can text or email to the families you teach. They fill in a short form and appear in your Students list.
Set a different price for one student
Charge one student a different hourly rate from the one on your profile. It applies to every lesson with them from then on.
Inbox and offers
Reply to families in your Inbox
Every enquiry lands in your Inbox. A quick reply is the single biggest thing that turns an enquiry into a lesson.
Send an offer a family can pay for in one tap
An offer is a specific lesson at a price you set, sent inside the conversation. When the family pays, it is booked.
Sell a package of lessons
A package is 5 or 10 lessons paid for up front. The family books each one whenever suits them.
Teaching
Choose where each lesson happens
Our classroom, your own Zoom, Meet or Teams link, or in person. You set a default once and can change it on any lesson.
Teach in the classroom, and try it first
The classroom is video, a shared whiteboard, notes and files in the browser. The practice room is the real thing with nobody else in it.
Set work, and mark what comes back
Set a piece of work for a student, get it back as a file or a photo, and return it with your comments.
Send a progress update to a family
A short update whenever you choose: a level in each subject, effort, and a comment. The work you've returned since the last one is attached for you.
Run a group class
Teach several students at once: set the seats, a price per student for each session, and whether it runs once or weekly.
Getting paid
When a lesson is paid to you
A lesson paid online is held until after it happens. It is paid to you when the family confirms the lesson, or by itself 24 hours after it ends.
Take cash or a bank transfer instead
If you'd rather be paid in person, say so on your profile. Lessons for your own students are always paid to you directly.
Set your cancellation and no-show policy
You decide how much notice a family must give and what a late cancellation or a missed lesson costs.
Growing
Share your link
Your link opens your profile with the message box ready. Put it in your email signature, your socials, or a text to a parent.
Get listed in Find a tutor
The Directory Listing puts your verified profile in front of families searching for a tutor. Get listed walks you through what we need.
Show where you studied
Add the high school you graduated from and your university as verified tags on your profile. Optional, and families can filter by them.
Refer another tutor
Share your referral link with a tutor you know. When they subscribe, you each get $25 off your subscription.
Change or cancel your subscription
Add or remove the Directory Listing, update your card or cancel, all from Billing.
See how your tutoring is going
Analytics shows new enquiries, messages, lessons taught and what you've earned, this week, month or year, against the period before.
