South Australia uses SACE — the South Australian Certificate of Education — which spans Stage 1 (Year 11) and Stage 2 (Year 12). A distinctive feature is the compulsory Research Project, a Stage 2 requirement where students design and complete independent research. SACE is also used as the senior certificate in the Northern Territory.
Primary maths tutoring is not about racing ahead of the curriculum — it's about building the foundation that everything else will sit on. Times tables, fraction fluency, and problem-solving habits formed in Years 3-6 predict how confidently a child will handle Year 7 algebra and Year 10 quadratics.
Primary maths gaps are the ones that show up years later in high school. A child who hasn't fully internalised place value at Year 4 will struggle with decimal arithmetic at Year 6 and algebraic manipulation at Year 8. Early intervention is the most effective intervention.
The three biggest primary maths challenges we see: times tables not fully internalised by end of Year 4, shaky understanding of fractions and decimals going into Year 5, and confidence collapse when word problems replace straightforward calculations in Year 5-6.
Primary tutoring focuses on fluency, confidence, and problem-solving habits — not curriculum acceleration. Our tutors use real schoolwork your child brings to the session, fill gaps as they appear, and give them a safe place to try and get things wrong without classroom pressure.
