Primary Maths Tutoring Online
Primary maths tutoring is not about racing ahead of the curriculum — it's about building the foundation that everything else will sit on. Times tables, fraction fluency, and problem-solving habits formed in Years 3-6 predict how confidently a child will handle Year 7 algebra and Year 10 quadratics.
What your tutor can cover
- Number facts and times tables
- Place value and whole number operations
- Fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Measurement and geometry
- Data and probability
- Word problems and problem-solving strategies
Why primary maths matters
Primary maths gaps are the ones that show up years later in high school. A child who hasn't fully internalised place value at Year 4 will struggle with decimal arithmetic at Year 6 and algebraic manipulation at Year 8. Early intervention is the most effective intervention.
Where students get stuck
The three biggest primary maths challenges we see: times tables not fully internalised by end of Year 4, shaky understanding of fractions and decimals going into Year 5, and confidence collapse when word problems replace straightforward calculations in Year 5-6.
How a tutor helps
Primary tutoring focuses on fluency, confidence, and problem-solving habits — not curriculum acceleration. Our tutors use real schoolwork your child brings to the session, fill gaps as they appear, and give them a safe place to try and get things wrong without classroom pressure.

My child is in Year 3. Is that too young for tutoring?
Not at all — many parents start with Year 3 tutoring specifically because early gaps are easier to close than later ones. The key is making sessions feel like supportive play rather than school, which is exactly what our primary tutors specialise in.
