Maths Tutoring in Queensland
Queensland transitioned from the OP system to the ATAR in 2020. The current QCE system uses external assessments for most General subjects in Year 12, combined with three internal assessments per subject. This is a more recent system than NSW's HSC or Victoria's VCE, and many QLD students benefit from tutors familiar with the specific QCAA syllabus.
Mathematics is the single most tutored subject in Australia, and with good reason. It compounds — what you missed in Year 7 algebra shows up again in Year 10 quadratics and Year 12 calculus. Our maths tutors work with students from primary school arithmetic all the way through HSC Extension 2 and VCE Specialist.

Why maths matters for QLD students
Maths is a gatekeeper subject for most university pathways. Engineering, medicine, data science, commerce, architecture, and almost every STEM degree have maths prerequisites. Even outside STEM, the ATAR scaling on senior maths subjects gives them disproportionate weight in university entry.
Where QLD students get stuck
The most common reason students fall behind in maths isn't ability — it's a missing foundation. A student struggling with Year 10 trigonometry often has gaps going back to Year 8 geometry. Good tutoring diagnoses where the actual gap is, then rebuilds from there.

Do your maths tutors know the QCAA (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) syllabus?
Yes. Our tutors specify which curriculum they teach, and the matching questionnaire lets you filter for QCE specifically. QCE General subjects include Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, General Mathematics, and Essential Mathematics. English subjects include General English, Literature, and English and Literature Extension. The new QCE system places more weight on external exams than the previous OP system did.
What year levels can your maths tutors teach?
Our tutors cover Year 3 through Year 12, including senior subjects like Mathematics Standard, Advanced, Extension 1, and Extension 2 (NSW), and Methods and Specialist (VIC, QLD, WA).
How often should my child have maths tutoring?
One hour per week is the most common cadence and works well for building consistent momentum. For exam preparation or catching up on substantial gaps, two hours per week in shorter blocks is often more effective.
My child hates maths. Can a tutor actually help?
Usually yes, and faster than parents expect. Most maths anxiety comes from feeling stuck — once a student has one or two 'I get it now' moments with a patient tutor, the relationship with the subject often shifts quickly.
