Welcome to the Tutor Marketplace Blog

Hi, I'm George — founder of Tutor Marketplace. I built this platform because finding a trustworthy tutor in Australia shouldn't feel like a gamble.

This blog exists for one reason: to actually help parents make good decisions about tutoring. Not to sell you something. Not to bury you in SEO-optimised listicles. Just honest writing from someone who spends his days personally interviewing tutors and watching what works for students.

What you'll find here

Every article on this blog will cover something a parent has genuinely asked me — through the matching questionnaire, over email, or in conversation. Topics will include:

  • How much tutoring actually costs in Australia
  • How to tell a good tutor from a mediocre one
  • What questions to ask before you commit
  • Whether online tutoring is as good as in-person
  • How to support your child through the HSC or VCE

I'll also share what I'm learning as I build this platform — the tutor applications I reject, the patterns I see, the mistakes I make. If that's useful to you, I'm glad you're here.

What I promise

Three things.

First, I'll only publish content I'd stand behind if a friend asked. No filler, no AI spam, no articles written to rank for keywords I don't actually have an opinion on.

Second, I'll cite real Australian sources — NESA, ABS, AIHW, university research. Not made-up statistics.

Third, every article will have a real author. That's me, for now. If the team grows, anyone who writes here will put their name on it with a real bio and a real face.

A note on what's changing

Australian tutoring is in a weird spot. Prices have crept up. Quality varies wildly. Most platforms won't tell you who's actually teaching your child until you've paid. I think that's backwards, and I'm building something different.

If you've got a question you wish someone would answer honestly, send it to tutormarketplace1@gmail.com. Odds are good I'll turn it into an article.

Thanks for reading.

— George
